To ForgiveA Poem by Miles WilburnForgiving one who's hurt you, and giving yourself the closure you need
We gave it everything we had
to the moon and back again. The love sustained us for a time, But we were restless and wild. I forgive you for the pain; The hurt that wrecked my soul I hope that you can forgive me For the hope I let unfold. I clung to memories set ablaze. My brain burned with fear and shame. My heart seared with anger, An ever present pain But I must move forth As I hope you have. I wished our love could've remained, And that we could go back. Relive all those memories like that time at the zoo, Or when I shared my deepest thoughts Lying next to you. But those moments are just memories, Passed in the blink of an eye Closure to a chapter, A beautiful part of my life. © 2012 Miles Wilburn |
