The Strange Adventures of Andrew Barnes. Chapter Three:The Kid in the Silver Jacket

The Strange Adventures of Andrew Barnes. Chapter Three:The Kid in the Silver Jacket

A Chapter by Ben

We pulled into the school’s parking lot and stopped. We all stepped out of the bus and walked towards the entrance to the school. We walked through the open doors and into the Lobby.

Littleville Middle School was quite big for a small town. Its Lobby was big enough to fit 300 people in there comfortably. Every once in a while a hallway gorged a hole in the teal wall. Each hallway had three or four different rooms leading of it. There were about ten hallways, leading to different rooms. At the end of the lobby, there was the gym room, and the teacher’s lounge room.

I walked towards the third hallway on the left and turned into the first room. History was probably the most boring subject ever. Not to mention the teacher, Mr. Albatross, was the most boring, drawling teacher ever. He would sit there behind a mound of papers, and read us total nonsense about how Christopher Columbus discovered North America.

After we finished History, (I ran out of class,) Laura, Sue, Jon, and I left the hallway. I looked over my shoulder and saw a strange boy. I had never seen him before. He w***e ripped up jeans and a really weird silvery, silk jacket. His hair was a sort of silver, so silver, you could see straight through it. He looked around our age. As soon as we started walking, he started walking too.

“Do you know who that guy is, Sue?” I asked as we turned left into the Lobby. Sue knew basically everyone in the school. She turned her head around and looked at the kid. She frowned slightly and turned back to look at me.

“I’ve never seen him. He must be new.” Then she ran over to one of her friends and started talking loudly.

“Barnes! Hey Barnes! Andrew! I need to talk to you!” I whirled around, and saw the boy who was following us yell out again,

“Dude! I need to talk to you now!” Laura and I walked over to him. Now that we were closer, he looked a lot different. His eyes were black, but friendly. His jacket had a pocket on it, and I saw a gold chain hanging from it. At the end of the chain, I saw some words printed on it. It said:

Alex Turner
Special Agent Forces

Alex, as I thought his name was, walked up to us and said harshly to Laura,

“Go away girl, I need to talk to Andrew alone.” Laura gasped, and stormed off into the crowd of people. I frowned at Alex and said,

“That wasn’t very ni-” I was cut off by Alex’s hand slapping my mouth. He dragged me by my arm and slammed me against the wall.

“What’s wrong with you?! You shouldn’t be here! I thought that bus incident would scare you out of town. I was wrong though. It’s not safe to talk in here. Do you have a closet?” I nodded and led Alex to it. He shut the door behind us and turned to face me.

“Why are you still here? You were supposed to leave days ago?” Alex yelled at me. Spit flew wildly from his rapidly moving mouth. I blinked as some of the spit hit my face. Wiping it from my face I said,

“I think you have the wrong person. I have no clue who you are, what you’re doing, or anything you’re talking about! Please let me get to my class.” I tried to leave the closet, but Alex Grabbed me tightly and wouldn’t let go.

“No! You’ve got to listen!” He grabbed me tighter and started explaining to me, “Listen, this might come as a shock to you, but you’re being hunted.” My eyebrows soared up again and started to speak, but Alex said quickly, “Shh! Like I said, you’re being hunted… by a robot. This also might come as a shock, but, the robot killed you mom.” I frowned deeply and started to talk, but once again, Alex cut me off. “You’ve got to leave this city now.”

I shoved Alex off and said, “You’ve been watching

Terminator

to much. And what do you mean my mom’s dead? I saw her this morning!” Alex looked at me sadly and said,

“Have you ever been in your mom’s office?” I looked at him strangely.

“Why would I?” I asked, my voice get louder with every word. I was getting annoyed with him now. “Listen, I’ve got to get to class! Let me go!” I was starting to shout now.

Alex calmly answered me, “You’ve got to get out of here now. If you want to live, follow me.” Without asking if I wanted to go with him or not, he started to drag me out, when I lost control.

“WHAT IS GOING ON?!” I yelled. My voice was high enough to be a scream.

“I told you. Your mom is dead, killed by a robot. The robot is coming after you to kill you.” Alex said and he opened the door to the closet. I ground my feet on the sides of the door, and held on with all my might. Alex let go of me and turned to face me.

“Why is the robot coming after me?” I asked, calmer than before, but still loud.

Alex rolled his eyes and looked around him, as if he was looking for bugs that might have been hidden. The Lobby was empty, as the next lessons had already started. Alex said so quietly I could barely hear him,

“I’m from the future, okay? I came back from the future to help you survive from the robot. In the future, robots from a different planet come to Earth and try and take over the world. Now, you, in the future, find out a way to destroy them. So, the leader of the robots, Arkian Martian, sent a robot to kill you in the past. So, if you die in the past, you can never make the thing that will destroy them. Make sense?” I frowned and nodded slightly. Alex continued, “So, the robot, or as I call him, Mission 12, killed your mom. When you get back from school today, he’s going to kill you.” I interrupted and said quickly,

“But how did he turn into my mom?”

Alex sighed and said, “I was about to get to that. Whoever, or whatever he kills, he can turn into,” “Just like the Terminator!” I said. Alex clamped a hand on my mouth and continued, “… and get whoever he’s after. So it’s kinda’ like a disguise.” He nodded and fell silent.

I frowned yet again and asked a few questions, ‘So, he’s after me to kill me so I can’t make something that destroys them.” Alex nodded. “And who are you? You never told me.”

Alex answered quickly, “I am Alex Turner, SAF.”

“So, are you a robot too?” I asked as I swatted at a fly buzzing around my face.

“No! Why would I?” Alex answered loudly. Suddenly, I saw a flash to my left. A saw a figure come out of nowhere. It was shining brightly, so I couldn’t tell what it was. I saw a flash of white, and then everything went blank.

Okay Ben,
His mom just died right? He went on like nothing really happened. Think about how you would react if someone just told you your mom died. Would you believer him? Think about it and I'm sure you can figure things out...
Good job.
