The City Nights

The City Nights

A Poem by R. Guillermo

No sound of crickets

Nor the smell of a fresh atmosphere

Nor view of stars above my head

No grass beneath my feet

Cars pushing through the summer air

heat rising from the pavement

light reflecting off the dark shop windows

the police sirens in the distance

sitting on concrete

looking at the blinding lights

through patterned windows

beauty made by man’s destruction

under my light polluted sky

I feel at ease

this polluted space has always been kind to me

who needs stars?

Such great imagery embedded here, and the ending sounds like you are quite disappointed; but it expresses an acceptance of human society today. Nicely done, sir.

This had great imagery, it is very discriptive. Nice job. :)
