My Other Side the Demon

My Other Side the Demon

A Poem by BenightedWhispers
"

"My demon devours souls like we devour a feast." So is the tainted heart...the tempation that flows through our veins. Once we have chosen, we can never truely go back.

"

I may look sweet and compassionate,

But in all actuality it is a guise…

a disguise for the demon within.

I do try my very best

To keep the imp locked inside me.

Sadly my devil is Satan’s pride

And he alone feeds off it’s existence.

"Not!"

"No!"

"Please no I beg you!"

My demon does not listen.

My demon is unmerciful.

My demon is painted black.

I lie here in another’s blood

Trembling with both excitement and ecstasy.

"Come play! Come play!"

My demon screams with rapture.

I still refuse to take part

In the tremendous bloodshed.

Satan has tempted my demon enough.

You run and you scream.

No one can hear you though.

I wrap tendrils around your limbs

And you struggle to get free!

As the tendrils stretch out

so does your last breath?

As these stories and poems usually go,

Your knight comes valiantly to your rescue.

He says "foul beast!" and

I laugh, as he is delusional.

He wails in agony as I

Rip out the part of him that loves you.

Forever to wander as lost as the sea.

You scream profanity at me,

And I rip out the part of you that gives voice.

You grow cold and insane as time passes on.

I whisper in your ear,

"I rule this fairytale not you."

My demon laughs as you are split in two.

"My demon devours souls

Like we devour a feast."

I am trying to show how easily the human heart can be tainted by darkness, and what might happen afterwards...poetically speaking.

Heh, reminds of a longer and more complex version of my haiku you reviewed "The Insanity Note". ^^ LOL! I really enjoyed reading this; it's got an interesting storyline to it that I can definitely understand. I've never thought of the Devil being responsible for a tainted heart or, in my case, a tainted soul; we all have demons within us... that's probably why we relate so much to the guy. :P

Anyways, amazing work, here! I love the pic you posted; it really sets the mood... as well as wraps up the story/poem pretty smoothly. ^^

I did enjoy this, especially "I rule this fairytale not you." I love how you distance the demon within you from yourself. This was creative!

This was a very enjoyable read. Most people are in fact possessed by personal demons that eat them away inside. Or maybe just in my opinion =]

I found no grammar mistakes when I read it, but then again I find my self to intrigued to really care.

Great writing, kudos to you.

this is so amazing, i can tell the message you're trying to point out. it is so easy to fall into the hands of sin, but you convey this in such a deep manner. thumbs up.

nice to meet you, i'm the anti-christ! lol

an interesting story you've weaved here. how does one heart become tainted in the first place tho? and is it really the devil's fault? poor guy gets blamed for everything. again, interesting...

Faerie Blessings!

What if the heart is tainted by darkness only because we try with all our might to lock the demons away? What if our fear of them is the very thing that gives them power?

I thought the knight in the poem was an interesting twist, and demons (personal or otherwise) are one of my favorite subjects.
