When they took youA Poem by Ben RobinsonTrust me...Trust me when I tell you it’ll be fine, Even if your sanity’s on a thin line, I know everything came out of the blue, But darling, I tell you, it’s ok to be you,
All you ever did was try and hide, And ever since May last year, part of you died, But darling, things will be ok one day, So trust me when I say, They didn’t want to have to take you away,
I know you’re sick of being told to escape your mind, But maybe you should this time, So say, you want to go back to how you used to be, Before the rough tides of the sea, Came and washed you away,
They wanted you to stay, Even when they had you forced away, So, for them, you need to stay true, I’ll see you back to them, I’ll see you through,
Remember when they’d tuck you up in bed, And kiss you goodnight on the forehead, Hold on to the fragmented memories, So one day you can tell the almost forgotten stories, Of when they took you away,
One day you’ll get on the train to go home, And you’ll get rid of the heart stone, The one that weighs you down each day, And they’ll tell you, we didn’t want them to take you away. © 2018 Ben RobinsonAuthor's Note
