A Poem by Ben

How I wish I could not care

I wish it wasn’t there

All compassion, all sensible reason

I could revert to feeling that anti-brains/intellectual feeling

I could let the visceral/ animal breathe about me as I beat upon the earth and feel its dust and pulse

Like the pad of the tiger, bear or cheetah

The g-force of the bend of the elevated river

The sap of a thousand trees in the desert where they once were

In the howling sound of all lost worlds

A caravan through a bewildering spark

Through an entrenched adapted oblivious hopeless seam

Noiselessly noisy in not questioning but its there

Innocent and adorable the more like any good punchline’s clown

I’ve done it all done all the work I can do, but being side tracked and forgetting, there was no one there to help me not

I know enough to know I don’t know it all and to say f**k a circumspect feeling, f**k conceit, hello self-assurance in that

Endlessly seeking more, wanting more saying is this it, not quite as dangerous in my case as saying I think that’s it, that’s all the variety there is to see, because that will be all the variety there is to me. The more I can see that is of at least sufficient enough degree of interesting to warrant my having that thought and most likely deserves further nuance and reflection, so I reflect.

Contemplation never earned anyone money, until later it saved them from a lesser fate, or until later it decided one, under a cruel hand better to regress to barbarians beer in hand blood on sword, brain un filled, lips and tongue in no further danger of harming your man

Yet, from this vantage point, I would say he would hardly be one, I would say there is a great deal to be seen and fathomed, entertained and discussed, there is so much to be realized to know and that is the crux

Of preparedness of sense of having all of the nessesary arensenal of battling in the arena. In front of a common audience and realm of people you must know all of their biases and all sides of their ways they may feel offended, all of their qualifying standards and what of them you will disregard or not acknowledge you have to be prepared for explaining and reasoning why anticipating fully their parameters and lore, idols and machinery (devices/contraptions) So all must be known, or its important to fully exercise and run the mind through examples and instances sufficient, insofar as the best are to walk on impeccable feet having never a inferior supply of cases and never a chance of having a lesser reservoir of anecdotes and lessons. It is always the younger person’s role to read. To read is to listen for x amount of time straight. Show the youth the places where they will do this. I’d show them Montaigne and Santayana and Chuang tzu and Santayana and Epictetus and most of all Diogenes, best of all Ralph Waldo Emerson in ‘The American Scholar’
