ForgeA Poem by Ben
Overlapping names of you
In and out of vogue Fading emerging and appearing The freshness of the details avoiding the key words Those words that twist Why did the Egyptians avoid the use, their whole lives of certain words Terms in their relation to terms Loaded questions, contexts, the will to pr subvert Misinformation, buried history, always see with you're eyes That stillness that calmness, that lack of a threatness That indistinguishable voice, neither male nor female Guilt remorse love of the simple straight path, of the pure morning The sacred, I've stepped all over, trampled by speaking of it loosely, lightly, wrecklessly The people I have been, the grand ignorance I have displayed, the huge faults, errs You know how many times I could catch myself condemning the same actions, being impatient with them I don't think there is a motive of theirs that was never a motive of mine I don't think there is a baseness, a pettiness, a fault, a misjudgment of theirs alien I can find I think I catch myself perceiving wrong all the time, and suspend what I can of this judgment I find it miraculous that so many people bared with me I must pay it forward I must forego the type of blindness and arrogance which would accompany the pleasure of triumphantly pointing out your shortcomings I © 2014 Ben |
