Unity of Opposites

Unity of Opposites

A Poem by Ben Barton

Everything we know
Is built on life and death
The unity of opposites
Working together to form a greater whole
The elaborate exchange
The intricate give and take
Through which all we know
Everything we've ever touched
Smelled
Tasted
Everything we've seen has thrived
An extravagant chaos
A most beautiful madness

A great poem filled with wise words and correlations to reality. Great work!

I am still reeling from
"Everything we know
Is built on life and death"
so very true, but I don't think I have ever seen it written and summed up that way. Amazing!
Love those last two lines as well. Life does seem as madness all too often. Seems when it appears sane I start to wonder if I'm being realistic! :)
Very interesting and thought provoking.
