[[Part Two]]

Jenn got home around nine that night. That was early, considering that she usually got off work at around eleven or twelve. Sometimes as late as one.

She didn't bother announcing that she was home. Her dad's car wasn't in the driveway, and the house was all dark too.  But that’s what she expected every night anyways. If there was a car in the driveway, then something would be wrong. And the house would probably end up being filled with beer and drunk people.

Jenn worked two jobs to support herself. She did it to gain independence as well, and so far . . . it was semi-working. She had had these two jobs ever since two years ago, after she noticed that her dad was gone longer and longer each time he left, and knowing in her heart that she would cripple away and die if she didn’t do something to help herself.

No one was home. Jenn sometimes dreamed of having a nice normal family. With her mother and father, maybe even a sister or brother and a pet cat or fish. But those were just dreams. She hoped to pursue her mom soon. If she couldn't kill herself, then she'd just work herself to death.

Besides, no one would care. Her father didn't, nor did his fucked up girlfriend. Her so called friends just used her.  And because she was so good at hiding her emotions and real thoughts, no one else found out what she really wanted. Because not one single person knew about it.

Was no one real left in this world? Was everyone so desperate to fit in that they'd lose themselves and become plastic and fake? Real people felt pain and could still be happy. Fake people just didn't have that much high-tech software in their systems to make them feel real emotions.

Jenn didn't daze out that night, although she did think of Spencer and what it was about him . . .

Spencer was the last thought on her mind before Jenn fell asleep.

The next day was a blur. Jenn didn't remember getting up at all, but she was at school. She didn’t care enough to wonder how she was either. She didn't remember her combination for her lock, but there it was, open. She barely grabbed the right books for homeroom, she didn't feel her hands moving. She didn’t know what had gotten into her. But it happened occasionally so it was normal. For her.

She started walking, but it didn't feel as if it were her feet moving. Like someone else was moving them for her. Jenn felt dead. She'd had these days before. She wouldn't daze out today. Dazeless days--- that's what she'd nicknamed it. It usually happened when something good happened to her. She'd met that guy yesterday, Spencer, and he'd made her feel better. When a dazeless day occurred, Jenn might as well be dead. It didn’t happen often, cause something good rarely happened to her.

“Hi Jenn," Taylor said as Jenn walked by the three in the hallway.

She didn't respond. She wasn't there. Her mind was somewhere else. For now, someone else was making her move.  Her thoughts weren’t her own.

Until something bad happened, Jenn wouldn’t come back. She would, the real one, and when she did, she would no longer know Taylor, Adriana, or Angela, the Hopeless Stupid. HS for short.

She just hoped she could make it through this day.

Spencer tried to catch his breath as he ran up the steps and into this new school. He'd moved, again. He hated his dad's job, which always moved their family around. Last year, they'd moved seventeen times through three months. Yeah, it was hard. But this time he was grateful for the move. His last high school sucked. He'd been desperate to get away from it.

It'd been especially hard for his little brother and sister, who were twins in kindergarten, double disaster, he called them. T hey still hadn't properly moved in yet, everything was in boxes and bags.

Spencer made his way to his locker. He knew he was going to like this school. As usual, at every school he moved to, he kept a low profile, kind of like a loner, and saw who was brave enough to make friends with the loner kid. The girl from yesterday... Jenn? He thought she was worthy enough. She seemed like it.

A small smile tugged on his lips. He shook it off. None of that, he told himself.

He just wanted to get through this day.
