The Lost Heart

"Sometimes things get lost along the way"

My heart lies in a place

I can no longer be.

I’m sailing a ship

On a dry empty sea.

My spirit is now barren

Where the heart filled my chest.

Days are spent drowning

On a fool hearted quest.

Why can’t I feel the passion

Or excitement of devotion?

My soul remains detached

And devoid of emotion!  

There are feelings inside,

They are so hard to trust.

This physical yearning

For unspeakable lust.

So, I’ll take a chance

On this unforeseen course.

Seemly moved by

This veiled boundless force.

Will time soon replace,

My leather bound heart?

A leap of faith, now ready

For this unthinkable start.

Its when we aren't looking for it that it seems to present itself. Lust, sex, exploration, justify it as you will, but the future is new, the present is what you make of it and the past is simply a reminder of who we are.
