Honesty

Honesty

A Poem by A. Kim Spradling
"

Maybe one day I will believe in honesty.

"

It is amazing

And a shame

How simple words

Could hurt or maim.

Oh, surprising how

This thing of charm

Comes forth easily

And causes harm.

And, all too often

Ones are stung

By this serpent with

His poison tongue.

Lies seem like

Little things to tell.

They weave around

Their magic spell.

And those of us

Who have believed

Are left in ruin

Because deceived.

Those of honor,

Who are the just,

Are left wondering

Who to trust.

Now, where do you

Lay your belief?

In the hands of a

Possible lying thief?

Not everyone has

A wicked tongue.

Where the truth

Is bent or even strung.

One day you may

Come to recognize

A noble soul

Who tells no lies.

A friend is the most precious asset of a person’s life. Friends can be many, but an honest friend is above all. He/she can be your best companion in life with whom you can share all your disappointments, challenges and happiness without any fear. Honesty and truthfulness holds very significant place in any relationship, thus anyone who gets honest friends are really blessed! Great write – loved the flow and imagery.
