Best Friends Through The YearsA Poem by Closed AccountFor my best-est friends ever!! <3 you!!We met in kindergarten. We shared everything:
our toys, crayons, and even a blanket at nap-time. We were best friends,
after only a day of knowing each other, It was like we’d been
together all our lives. We made a promise that
we’d always be friends the day we met. And then we got older.
We went through
elementary school together, Still sticking
together. We’d hang out at
recess and played on the same soccer team. Then came middle
school. We weren’t in the same
class, But we still stay best
friends, Through crushes and
fights. You were my shoulder
to cry on when my parents split, And I was yours when
your first boyfriend dumped you. More time passed, and we started high school. We had completely different schedules, And after school was filled with swimming, dancing, tennis, Theater, debate club, and so many other things. We would get together as much as possible on the weekends, But even if we couldn’t, We were still best friends, through everything. Now we’re about to graduate. We’re going to go to different colleges, And we’ll be hundreds of miles apart, But we’ll still be best friends. We’ll keep in touch as much as we can, Emailing, texting, and calling. And, sure, we’ll probably see each other when we come back home, For long weekends and holidays. And, we’ll miss each other of course. But we made a promise so long ago, That’d we always be friends no matter what. And nothing is going to stand in our way of making that promise
come true. © 2010 Closed AccountAuthor's Note
