Take You Back?

I saw you today in town.

You looked like you were doing good, but I didn’t stop to talk.

Or, I tried not to at least.

I wasn’t half way down the street before I heard your familiar voice.

“How are you?”

I couldn’t lie, I was a wreck.

But, I knew you wouldn’t care.

So I put on a fake smile and turned around to see the tears falling from your eyes.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

You were the one who’d dumped me, so why should you care?

You were the one who’d found someone better than me.

I told you I had to go, but you begged me to stay and talk to you.

You said you missed me, and that you wanted me back.

But I knew something you didn’t.

I knew that if I took you back, I’d never be happy.

I knew that if I let you back into my life, you’d mess it up again.

So I tried to be as nice as I could.

I told you I missed you too, but that I couldn’t go through it all over again.

You whispered okay, and I turned to leave.

I knew I’d done the right thing.

And, as I walked down the street, I didn’t turn around to see you find another girl.

I've had writers block for a few days now, so I've been trying to write something, and this was all that I could come up with. i got a friend's opinion on it, and she said she liked it, so i decided to post it. pleaseeee tell me what you think?? Thanks for reading! <3

Wow... I really love this, it's amazing... Made my heart hurt 'cause i can really relate to it...which makes me love it all the more. I love it when poems make your heart hurt, or your stomach jump, or something like that, anyway. Love this. :)
