If Only I Could....

this is a poem i wrote a LONG time ago, about a friend who i hurt, and then she died (not because of me though, because of cancer) and i wanted to take everything back. sorry, i wanted to put a short story in here too. hope you guys like it! =D

when i heard the news, i was shocked.

You were gone for good.

I couldn't take back all the mean things I'd said,

and all the things i had done,

they were never forgiven,

and now I'll have to live knowing that I hurt you,

and never even had the chance to appologize.

No one will ever know how truly sorry i am,

and i don't think it was right that you should die.

I'm the one who deserved to die,

after what I did.

If only there was a way,

i could say sorry,

after all this time,

but how can i,

when your gone?

Wow.. this is really deep.. I mean the purpose and emotions flowing here.. it is so sad when we don't get a chance to correct things or apologize when someone leaves this world.. you could write a letter and read it at their grave but that is not the same as having said it in person.. no acceptance is returned.. however .. I believe many people are good.. if they know you are truly sorry many times they will accept it as who wants to burn bridges.. I liked the honesty here.. I am very certain many can relate to this as every day we have arguments with loved ones.. accidents also happen.. this writing should make others contemplate the way they deal with issues as you just never know when something like this could occur. I hope you find closure.. the letter idea is a good one and does help some.. some seek therapy if it becomes a major issue.. I am sure your friend is in a better place and understands.. one day you may be able to tell them yourself when you join them.. if you believe in that.. thank you so much for sharing!!! =)
