Carry You HomeA Story by Dorian GrayBecause love doesn't have to be complicated.
”Tell me how you love me again,” she pleaded. Her soft curls dangled in
front of her face in the light breeze and her eyes were crystal blue,
reflecting the sky above them.
“I know everything about you,” he started slowly, “and yet I would rather be by your side than anywhere else in the world. I want you to know everything about me too, down to the bones. When you walk into a room, time stops and you’re all I can see, even if the room is crowded. And through all your troubles, everything that’s going on in your life, I will always be there.” His voice faded out as she took a trying step forward, the grass soft under her naked feet. All they could hear were the beating of their own hearts and the breeze. Cautiously she lifted a small hand to his face, stroking his stubbled cheek carefully. A smile tugged at her ruby lips and her breathing was deep. He closed his eyes, letting the feel of her skin against his burn into his heart. “You’ll always be there?” she asked, letting her second hand get lost in his blonde hair. He opened his eyes and gripped her waist just as a strong gush of wind made the grass around them on the field dance. Stroking some stray brown hairs out from her eyes, he took a deep breath. “I’ll always be there,” he confirmed smoothly. Even the sun that was kissing their faces didn’t feel as warm as her hair around his fingers. “Even when I’m at my worst, and I can barely stand on my own feet, and I’m lost in the woods and can’t find my way home?” “Yes.” “How?” “I’ll carry you home.” © 2010 Dorian Gray |
