Chapter 6

Mr. Pilly walked through the front door with the most insanely happy exspression I had ever seen. I was almost sickened by it. It was fake, ugly and monotonous, and just hightened his fatness. He was practically a happy robot.

"Heeeeeeey!" he said with a grin, shaking my hand. Dad watched his plan unfold with a smile, whilst Mum looked a bit worried. I couldn't blame her.

"Hi."

"Bit more enthoooooooooosiasm!" Mr. Pilly ordered, smiling, and Dad nodded in agreement. Then Dad said "Let's go to the kitchen."

With a heavy heart I raced to the kitchen before everyone else and grabbed the visitor seat. Mum stared at me when she came in, but Dad said "Darcey, please."

I gave him puppy eyes and he couldn't resist. Softie. I should have used it more often.

Mr. Pilly sat in Dad's usual chair, which meant he had to sit at mine. Mum plonked herself in her usual seat, happy no one had stolen it.

"Sooooooo," Mr. Pilly began, "I have been getting some baaaaaaad reports about yooooooou. Are you reeeeeeeally a naaaaaaaughty girl when it comes to straaaaaangers?"

"You're a stanger," I pointed out.

Mr. Pilly paused for a fraction, the said "Yeeeeeees, but I am a nice stranger, not like aaaaaaaaaaaaanyone from Xryn."

"But she was really nice," I protested.

"Weeeeeeeeell," he said, grinning, "Anyone from Xyrn are aaaaaaactually baaaaaaaad."

It was too much. I laughed at him pityingly, hoping he was too stupid to notice. He thought I was laughing in agreement.

"Right!" he said happily, "You dooooooooo get what I mean!"

"Idiot," I muttered.

"Hmm?" he said. He thought I was talking to him.

"I didn't say I agreed with you," I told him, "I laughed because you think I am around five years old and will give in to anything you say."

He paused for another fraction. "Noooooooooooooo I don't."

I stood up suddenly.

"You son of a *****," I screeched, "You ungiving little ********. I hate you and everything about you, fat ugly councillor."

I ran to my room and locked the door.
