The room went silent as Mrs. Mownhawk walked in. Her steel grey eyes raked the classroom for mischef.

"TAYLOR!"

Taylor Milwarke stopped twiddling his thumbs and looked up. "Yes Miss?" he stammered.

"Go sit in the corner for three minutes."

Terrified, the boy rushed to the corner and stood there, shaking like a leaf.

"You too," she told five-year-old Tim, also fidgeting and Tim ran to the corner. Taylor grinned quickly. Tim grinned back, and then quickly pulled a straight face - but the smile was still there, in his eyes.

"Tim..."

Tim shook himself and came into the present, ten years from the memory. Taylor was rudely waving his hand in front of Tim's face. "Gawd you're boring," said Taylor, whacking Tim on the shoulder for good measure. The Librarian scowled in their direction, and Tim quickly thought of an escuse to go. He was sick of Taylor.

"I need to run," Tim said, "I have to go home and do homework."

"I hate you," Taylor said spitefully, "You never do anything for me."

Tim thought of last weekend, when he turned down the offer to see the latest Spy movie from Coby - because Taylor was bored and wanted Tim to go to his place. Or in the Holidays, where Taylor often spent hours in Tim's house, eating their food and watching television on the flat screen. "I get lonely at home," was his reply.

Tim stood up, anger etched into his face.

"Taylor," he said furiously, "I have tried to be a good friend, but obviously it isn't enough. We can't be friends anymore."

Taylor looked shocked. "But we are friends forever," he protested.

"No."

Tim ran out of the doors and whacked into Coby, who was going for a smoothie with Graham, another friend.

"Hey guys," Tim said, "Can I join?"

"Sure!" Coby was delighted Tim was not tied down with Taylor. "Where is Taylor?" he added.

"I left him," Tim said airily, "We are not friends anymore."

"Good to hear it," Graham said, then he covered his mouth with embarassment.

"Don't worry." Tim smiled. "I completely agree."
