Abandoned

Abandoned

A Poem by Bella Anima
"

...

"
Lying face first in the dust to exhausted to go on, looking for the encouragement that is just beyond my comprehension.
Screaming out "My God why have you hidden from me?!"
Alone and cold stumbling blindly in the darkness looking for the warm embrace that eludes me. Again I cry out" My God why have you forgotten me?!"
Drowning, struggling, fighting, barely keeping above the water as the current pulls me under; I desperately reach for the invisable hand I hope to save me. Whispering "you've  abandonded me ?" as the current pulls me under.
Walking a long and winding path alone in the dark, silence surrounds me as I stumble in my nakedness. I manage to come to rest at the base of a solid tree. Blinded by tears I feel a warm rain begin to fall healing my body and renewing my energy my eyes clear as I relise that it is not rain but blood that has been falling down the tree to me. I look up the tree to see that a man is hanging there with nails pounded through his hands  and thorns digging into his brow. A scream dies in my throat as he speaks a voice soft and powerful. " I have not hidden from you nor have I forgotten or abandoned you; but I've been here all along patiently waiting for you to remember the way."
