Victims 2wice over.

A Poem by BelfastBhoy69
"

An observation of the boat-people as they flee across the Med in search of a new life, where several thousand have drowned in the process.

Victims 2wice over

M..Is for the Misery for what they call a life
I..  Is for the Individual who flees from war and strife
G...Is for the Greed that the ruthless will extort
R...Is for the  Refugees that fill up every port
A...Is for the Acceptance that we could do much more
N...Is for the Needless souls washed upon the shore
T...Is for the Time has come to not stand idly by
S...Is for the Sorrow as we watch these people die

They wear their world upon themselves, packed into those ships,
No worldly goods or home comforts, these are no luxury trips,
Life savings they've surrendered, to the faceless hand,
Their expectations running high, of this Promised Land.

Across the Med they have to sail, on crafts not safe nor sound,
As children cling to mothers, the smell of death around,
Their hopes and dreams of happiness, was all they ever were,
As they sink beneath the waves, where is the world to care?

Victims 2wice over, they're not the ones to blame,
Caught up in a battle zone, where all they knew was pain,
Thousands leave a life behind, not knowing what's ahead,
Either way their fates been sealed, they're sailing with the dead.
