It's time to let go.A Poem by BelfastBhoy69Recalling the last few moments I and my sisters shared with my Mum.It's time to let go. The sterile room, her personal effects, Her children had gathered, to pay their respects, She wasn't their Mum, with that gaunt hollowed face, The Mum who had raised them, full of life, fun and grace. The frail loose-skinned figure, who's light had once shone, Only bruise's remain, where the needles had gone, Black, purple and yellow, they covered her hand's, Recognised only, by the hospital bands. None dare to speak, in that solemn place, All eye's and their love, fixed on Mum's face, Her eyes have long closed, she's no more to give, The fight's almost over, the struggle to live. The memories of Birthday's and Christmas time's too, Her kid's at her bedside, no more they can do, One held her hand, as he stroked her hair, The family together, silent in prayer. An intake of breath, it's time to let go, Heartbreakingly hard, when you love your Mum so, No outburst of grief, only sniffles and tears, For a Mum who has loved us, all of these years. We hugged one another and kissed our Mum bye, Being strong for each other, trying hard not to cry, So if you are lucky and your Mum's your best friend, Just tell her "I love you," for her love knows no end. © 2015 BelfastBhoy69Author's Note
