Dear Australia.

Written following the Mason Jet Lee case in Qld Australia- by someone who has travelled and seen her fellow Aussies in action.

Australians? Or a bunch of privileged wankers.

A 21 month old boy lived a short tragic life, in a small tragic town and
Australians pulled out the pitchforks on the Çhild Safety Minister..

Sure, there is plenty of blame to go on our blase Government for
providing unreliable services and inadequate support for over 1.5 million
Australians. But, to be honest "Aussies” - it is about time you blame
yourselves too.

See, The Government doesn't live in your neighborhood.., the
Government makes economic decisions based on 'International Bank Agendas' and
various statistics, that a significant amount of you don't or can not participate
in. This alone, is enough to explain why Community Services (such as DOCS, Domestic Violence Helpline and Emergency Housing) are failing to support the amount of weight dumped on them... it also doesn't help that they are acting as shepherds ' to all of your "Black Sheep".

Are you Australians, or are you Pirates? Because here we all are, floating on our island "Girt by Sea" and so many of you seem to think it is ok to throw a man overboard, just because he is seasick?

Not even Pirates did this!

Do you know what I hate about "Boat People"? The way they come here motivated by family support, or a family to support, and just look after eachother... no, wait- that is still me pissed off at you lot for being a bunch of wankers.

The problem with you Australia, is that you don't think anything is your problem...

An eight year old girl spends her school days at the park alone because her parents are
crack dealers and she is afraid to go home, not your problem? That co-worker
who looks like she is made of plastic because she needs so much foundation
to cover the bruises, not your problem? Your best mate who drinks too much
at the pub and then drives home like a lunatic- not your problem? A little
boy walks down your street or into your surgery, who is clearly being abused
and it is not your f*****g problem? What about the fact that your indifference
means that at one stage or another these issues will find their way in to your
home or those of your children... is it really, still not your problem?

Than whose f*****g problem is it?

Look, my point is this...

Mason Jet Lee had a mother who did not speak up or take action. His mother, her partner and his stepfather had friends who not speak up or take action. He lived by neighbors who did not speak up or take action, in a community that did not speak up or take action and he even visited Doctors that did not speak up or take action.

The biggest problem with Australia is not the Government or the Refugees or The Baby Boomers... it is all the people who could speak up, could take action, could DO SOMETHING- but do not. It is the people who notice this country is going to s**t, yet still sit on their porcelien thrones singing "Advance Australia Fair".

It is every single one of us that has looked in the face of dispair and said "That is not my problem"- encouraging every depressed, abused, addicted, sick or twisted Australian to continue saying "Don't Judge Me" because without your support, excuses are all they can manage. A child isn't going to say "I am being abused" unless someone is there, the words will not be heard unless someone is listening and the abuse can only end if someone
is willing to stand up and take it for them.

That 'someone', should be every single one of us.
