Left Behind

Left Behind

A Poem by BeforeSunset

I've tied twisted lines around my broken heart
Turned waiting into a form of art
Painted on a crooked smile
Hung the tears to dry awhile

You say you want to be heard
so you write your hollow words
You crave their attention
to feed your addiction

But I know the truth
You stabbed me from behind
You tied your own noose
And I know now that Ive been left behind

I loved the strength of these words dear poet.
"But I know the truth
You stabbed me from behind
You tied your own noose
And I know now that Ive been left behind"
The above line. Solid, direct and honest. I liked them. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

A new favorite of mine for sure! I felt every line here and that feeling of just wanting to be heard, this huge message you have for so many, and yet no one seems to care. The second verse is my favorite line and just a great line in general for all of poetry. It's a bitter, guttural hurt and you captured it so well here.

Thank you so much. This review really meant a lot to me.
Change herd to heard.
I do that too. I type from my phone sometimes and don't notice the help my phone gives me.
I like your poem, keep it going.
