Crux

Crux

A Poem by Beedlethebard

The pressure and pain of life
The rise and fall of joy
Are controlled by none other
Than the switch inside your mind

When your shutters are up
And your defenses are down
Life spits on your psyche
And flips the switch around

You start flailing and falling
And stare at others around
They all hurry past you
Without a second thought

Alas- comes the poison
The sweet seductive nectar
Softening your insides
Blurring the danger

And then you see
You see it all
You see what could have been
And what has gone.

Hahahahaha thank you!
I love the subject here. The poison, the 'sweet seductive nectar' is so intriguing to me. What part of an insular, solipsistic world are you referring to? Is it self-contentment, or is it the isolationist, 'me against the world' lifestyle? You could expand on it. But as it, it hits close to home. I know what it feels like to be a captive in your own mind
