Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Bee Oxford

In an airport somewhere people are considering snacks

They are taking their shoes off and putting them back on again

They are sleeping and zipping up baggage,
Sipping their coffee and tugging at toddlers.

And who is waiting for their tires to touch a tarmac?

What a romantic, dreadful, wonderful, boring space to be.

In an airport somewhere, waiting.

I have recently wondered exactly how many hours we spend waiting....waiting in doctor's rooms,
waiting for the plane, waiting to renew a license, waiting for a table.
just waiting...many hours of our lives...
we wait, then we do, then we wait again.
I like how you take something so mundane and make it poetic.
