Still Life: A Love Poem

Still Life: A Love Poem

A Poem by Bee Oxford

Our keys hang on hooks in the wall
Our shoes cuddle by the door
Our clothes mingle on the floor
Our dishes soak in the sink
Foreign authors lean on unexpected shoulders on a shelf
Your soap looks so comfortable in my soap dish

Every day I find us
Plainly painted perfectly
In a still life
And I smile sweetly to myself

Quite nice juxtapositions - would omit second 'soap' and change last 'and' to as.

Well, if I didn't read it, I wouldn't have believed that simplicity could be so endearing. This is such a smooth and heartwarming way to that you are in love. Wonderful!

Thank you so much for the kind review and for taking the time to read.
such affection here...such a nice painting in words....
my mom was a painter and a painting...
she and my dad were married for 70 years.
My favorite painting of hers is of two empty chairs on a porch.
we look at it and imagine who sat or will sit there.
Perhaps my folks spirits are in those chairs now.
Beautiful poem.
