Sipping Poison

Am I allowed to forget now?

Simplicity in manner, put that drink to your lips

Instant relief from pain, numbness spreads throughout your body

Pleasant is the warmth that slowly seeps in your veins

Poisonous is the liquid you savor, as it tells time backwards
Its' contents swaying your mind slowly to its' favor

Noxious are the fumes that you smell, you taste

Growing acutely unaware of the surroundings you once knew

 

Passing time edges on by, ticking down, a metaphorical bomb

Opening up the last edges of your memory, severing your mind

Impressively blurring your vision, slurring your tongue

Sluggish in the way your brain starts to shut down

Only those last few minutes left, a smile on your lips

Now resting against a wall as your heart beat stops
