Could You See?

Could You See?

A Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.
"

Would you save her...?

"

I see her, could you see her too?

That night he beat her black and blue

When he punished her for things she didn't do

And how she wished it wasn't true

Could you see it too, the pain in those eyes?

How many nights she goes home and cries

Where every day, her smile is filled with lies

Every day, another part of her dies

Can you see it, what he's finally done?

He finally picked up a weapon, a little gun

And the time of day where there is no sun

He decided to have a little fun

Why can't you see it, what I see?

How much she longs to finally be free

Running away from her life, all she is to be

In hopes that there's someone like me

If you can't see it, then why act like you care?

She decided this night she'd finally take a dare

And the screams I heard, I do declare

Doesn't make my life seem fair

If only I saw it earlier, then maybe she'd be here

Saved her from that life, she'd have nothing to fear

And I'd make sure, she wouldn't cry another tear

Or have to meet his stare, that ugly leer

Could you see it then, like I do this time?

Could you save her,  break that crime?

Would she still be here, her voice a chime?

And if she was, would you see it next time?

this makes me sad too but i believe in finding the strong and that no matter how much anyone throws at you, you can resist any matter of unworthiness.

being in an abusive relationship by choice is something no one can do anything about. this is very horrific and sad. great contemplative piece.
