The Two Birds

The Two Birds

A Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.

"

My birds, you sing, you shine your song

Chirruping it sweetly, making it strong

Calling for care, singing of love

Voices as sweet as that of a dove

Graceful, you fly across the clouded air

Not one by one, but in a daring pair

Not afraid to take flight in the evening sky

Not afraid to give your love another try

Your voice's lovely, warming to a cold heart

It's piercing beauty enough to tear it apart

Make you feel once more, in the dead of night

Instead of sitting alone, filled with the greatest fright

Of being alone, it forces your heart to cry out

To give you a chance,  remember what it's all about

To watch those two birds singing their songs of life

Love, and laughter, instead of hurting of the knife

To listen to the words unspoken, into the sky

And remember that those birds, your love, gives you power to fly
