Writing To You

Writing To You

A Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.
"

I just randomly thought of this.

"

I could write to you of a sugar-coated kiss,

All those things that I desperately miss

About you and the way you used to make me smile

Like the sun, and the love went on mile by mile

If only it could be like that once again

When we were more than just "friends"

Who now never talk, or ever look at one another

Who treat each other as if they were a hated brother

That you have to talk to for family's sake

And making every conversation based on fake

Things that you've done since you last talked

Almost like the weather, or the dogs you walked

I could write this letter to you oh so true

But really I shouldn't for it would be blue

Because I miss you, but I can't do a thing about it

So in this room with paper I do sit

Wishing I could write to you, but knowing I won't

Wanting to wish you "Happy holidays", but I don't.

Because what I want isn't what you'd need

And standing up with a tear in my eye, I decreed,

I love you dear, but it's just not worth the pain

And I wish upon this winter snow instead of rain.

The thought of this may have begun as a random stream but it didn't really stay that way. It isn't that "growing-up" - getting older actually - is hard. It doesn't take much thought or even Rocket Science - to age. What's hard is surviving the need to reach out to another person to share our existence. We find another - but they don't always find US - hence the surviving.
