Overdose SerenityA Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.Title doesn't appear in the poem.Force it to your lips, poisoned water for you to drink Just for extra measure, a bottle of pills from the Shrink Take one too many, so you know you won't go on Then stumble out, trip about, and fall to the lawn Green grass and dirt, such a wonderful taste But mixed with formaldehyde and 'happy' pills, it's more like paste I know I'll slip away, there's nothing to stop it This was meant to happen, at life I quit Popped into my mouth, one by one almost like candy Pills that make me feel great, all fine and dandy Wasn't that the point, to make me soar high? And why shouldn't I give up, why should I try? Higher than I was supposed to go, now my wings are clipped I'm not allowed to be free, so now poison dripped Straight into my system, intoxicating by every second Eyes quietly shutting, I know now what's beckoned The world is now dark, a midnight-filled place One where you cannot see the light, the brightness is a disgrace And lastly now as I close my eyes, slowly drifting off to this place Know that finally peace has done well, filled my paled face © 2011 Miss Marie Riorden.Author's Note
