Artificial Smile

Artificial Smile

A Poem by Miss Marie Riorden.
"

Totally opposite to what I'm listening to.

"

~:..*..:~

Pasted upon my face, held in place by will

It takes plenty of practice, a self-learned skill

Corners of my lips held up by a force

I will not show sadness, fear, or remorse

Artificial to the extreme, it will not fail me

This smile that holds, the one everyone sees

Keeping up an act, keeping it from this fate

I've need for a lie, a thirst I cannot sate

For the need to be happy, not a living lie

Stowing away every emotion, even tears I cry

Artificial smile, it keeps me from being seen

Keeping me "happy", when I want to scream

Artificial smile, I thank you so

Away with emotions and fears I go

It's plastered on my lips, appealing to the eye

Artificial smile, thank you for being mine

Yup I know what that's like. I just don't always use the fake smile. People think I'm a crap liar but I'm really good when I want to be. I can really relate to this...
