What Would Happen If I Never Met Her

Man, my mind is in such a whirl.

My heart is so caught in my throat

I'm choking on these emotions

The tears build up in my eyes

I don't want to cause a commotion

I'd say don't worry, I'm just fine

But I know I'd being lying to you

Those words you've written still get to me

Because I know they're true

Maybe others won't believe you

They doubt your every word

I'm just gonna tell you now

I understand, I listened, I heard

I'm pretty sure it hurts

I can see the emotion clearly, it hits me

But I keep re-reading it

Wondering how, how I could see

It's so wrong I think I know

Or maybe I'll never understand

Just what you've been through now

You just need a helping hand

It makes tears flow from my heart

To see the pain you've endured

I'm too empathetic, I know. I've been told

But I wish your mind could be cured

I'll ask you now, before I forget

If you had the chance, would you want it different?

Where life wasn't so hard, and there weren't troubles

Where maybe you hadn't become mentally distant

I ask this for a reason, and one reason only

I want to see if you agree with me

If you had the chance to change your life

Would you think it as selfish means?

This being said, it inspires me so

To see that you can still smile

Maybe it'll give me a boost of hope

And keep me here just a little while

It's caused me to think back once again
