Entitled Men part one

Entitled Men part one

A Story by Rm

As soon as I saw him, I knew.
He had that entitled, self-serving smile and over- confident air. “Rebekah, right? So nice to meet you.” He flashed unnaturally white teeth and pulled me in for an unwanted hug, his hand lingering on my lower back.
My heart sank, the slightest bit of sick sensation started pooling in my stomach. I noticed N was shorter than his pictures made him appear.
“I got lost on my way here, the Uber driver dropped me off at the wrong place.” I told him, with a forced cheeriness. “And then I couldn’t find the actual building. I ended up at a dentist office.”
“Hahaha.” He had a fake, high laugh, like one of a business man trying to talk you into what you knew was a terrible deal. “That’s so funny.”
“So funny.” I repeated, dully. We were headed down a long hallway to the area he claimed the pool was in.
We stopped in front of the glass door. “Do I just change here, or what?” I was self conscious of how bloated I had gotten from the fertility medication. I felt hesitant to be seen in a bikini under the bright lights. I was hoping for a darker area in which to change into my bikini.
“Oh, we can just change here.” He looked like he expected me to strip down right there.
I spotted a restroom nearby. “I’ll be right out.” I promised.
Inside, I took my time changing and checked my phone for texts from the guy I had spent the day with yesterday. We had drank a bottle of wine and cuddled the night before and I was hoping for a repeat. I sent him a text:
I’ll be done in about an hour.
I stuffed my phone into my jacket pocket, zipped it up over my bikini, and wrapped a towel around my waist. No peep show for you, I thought to myself, with a cynical laugh.
He was waiting outside. “Right this way.” I led me outside and across the enclosed patio to the hot tub. Some guy was already using it, and I felt a tinge of relief upon the realization that I wouldn’t be left alone with N.
I unwrapped my towel, feeling his eyes on me as I did so, and slid into the hot water.
“I brought my laptop so we could listen to some music.” He told me.
I nodded politely. I felt that this was a well rehearsed routine. Bring girls to the hot tub, listen to music, and then make his move.
He started some music and came towards me, settling in too close for comfort.
“What kind of music are we listening to?” I asked, scooting away slightly.
“All kinds of stuff.” He grinned too wide, flashing those garishly white teeth again.
We started a casual conversation about the app he had developed, and he carefully side stepped the questions I posed about the scandal it had recently gone through. “Oh yeah, that. People are crazy.” He waved his hand dismissively.
I scooted further away.
“I have medications due soon.” I lied, hoping this would be a good excuse for an early departure.
He ignored my statement and launched into a story about the last party he had thrown, clearly trying to impress me.
I tried again. “These shots they’re making me give myself are pretty crazy. Pretty huge needles I’m having to use.”
He moved in closer and put his arm around my waist. I tried to subtly squirm out of reach. The feeling of dread in my stomach was getting stronger. “I’ve got to get back pretty soon.”
“Do you like comedy?” He asked, his voice a little too excited.
“Of course.”
“Good. We’ll go watch a little back at my room.” F**k, it was a trap. “I’ll have you back on time, I promise.” He reassured me. I looked at the time, we’d only been in there for 15 mins and it was too early to leave. “Alright.” I reluctantly agreed.
He stared at my a*s as I stood up and grabbed a towel.
We headed inside and up to his room, while I silently prayed that I could excuse myself soon. His appartment was cluttered. Printed out emails and reviews for his app were pinned to the wall, like a kid who kept his trophies proudly displayed on the top of his dresser. I felt sick to my stomach.
