Sisters

Sisters

A Poem by Beccy

After school, all in the park,
sharing secrets; swings and slides,
the traffic barely breathes a sigh
where safe behind the canopy of trees,
we took our turns, absorbed the world ;
best friends, just brief and small divides
that barely breached the trusting eye.

Three decades since, all on the bus,
conversations back and forth,
the traffic roars, blots out the sky;
we talk of trees and swings and slides
the paths we chose along the way.
Still friends, just brief and small divides
that never breach the trusting eye.

A sister is a true friend of a brother. She understands a brother's feeling and she truly cares.

Lovely write Beccy, it took me back, in my case almost 6 decades with my sister. Sadly I lost her just after Christmas. We had a safe distance visit in front of our house Christmas Eve. Little did we know it was to be our last. This touched me.

It’s nice when you can hold on to them, no matter what capacity. I want to know where the bus was going....lol. Loved it!

I love this. It appeals to my nostalgic heart in a mighty way. When you have a forever friend, the joys of youth aren't so far away.

A wonderful poem. The love of two sisters is described with love and kindness. Thank you Beccy for sharing the amazing poetry.

This poem has a very good flow and I really feel chills reading because I can relate to it so much. You are definitely an experienced writer and I hope you continue writing until your eyes are too old to write lol.

This is sweetly suggestive that sisterhood (sometimes) can be as comfortable as a favorite old swing or a legendary fort hidden away in the bushes or a bumpity old bus ride downtown, after we all get old, to do something sisterly together like shopping for purple hats and a picnic on the beach afterwards. I didn't have this with any of my 5 sisters, but your poem makes me wish I did (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Very sweet and to the point.

Kind of different for brothers who are close in age. My younger brother is my best friend, but what I did to him probably today would get me arrested. We played and fought continually until late adolescence.
