This is a sonnet of the most excellent sort Beccy. It's so luscious I just wanted to read it without counting beats or any such nonsense. Your description of the bees form - the beating wing, and - the nectar is perfect. Your intro adds another dimension to the sonnet itself. Your 'bee with the man in his bonnet' is so witty!
You have every right to be quite proud of this!
Have a great new year,
Alan
bees, bees ,bees, bees everywhere!!! sadly not.... but I think if bees could read they would be gathering around this flower of a poem and handing you a bonnet so you could sit on their heads... nicely written Beccy…..
Beccy, can you hear my applause from "across the pond?" I must admit most sonnets I read on here might be technically perfect, but they often read like a cluttered room with mismatched furniture, not much consideration given to anything other than filling up space. You're the exception with this poem.
I always enjoy poems that present alternative perspectives, like this one, the bee clearly enjoying a much better life that we might imagine. Splendid imagery and charm in this sonnet. (I didn't count the syllables, but since you live in the country of Shakespeare, I'll trust you got that right). :)

I bet you did count them, I know I would have done. :))
This ranks pari passu with any sonnet I have ever read Beccy, really it does. Such a skillful and well crafted celebration of that most vital of God's creations, without which the world would be a far less sweeter place.
Such a deserving tribute to the bee.
So many don't understand how important
they are to our survival.
Not only deserving, but beautifully written.
Take care - Dave
I love it Beccy. Your pen is creative and mesmerizing. Your imagination is alive and well. Some classic elements in this wonderful write. A small creature can have immense effect on our lives let alone nature.
A lovely poem. Very well written and entertaining. Aeronautical engineers must still be scratching their heads at the little insect's ability to fly. May they always make the flowers grow.

Bit like fairies aren't the least concerned that only children can see them. :))
You do the romantics proud in this one. Perfect meter, perfect form. Seems like the sharp rays of the sun have come down and set fire to your poetic brain. Nice poem to sigh to.
