Boot saleA Poem by BeccyIt was only base metal and paste, polished, if slightly scratched glass, but the look in his eyes said that to him, it was pure gold with a diamond brighter than all the stars that shone at night. “Look at this mum,” he said, “It was only two pounds “what do you think?” I made no reply save with my eyes, his yearning thoughts, though thin as air laid all his untold secrets bare; and had I dared so much to breathe it would have broken all the spell, the moment that he dared to tell the tumult of the heart within. “Well, I think she’ll like it,” he said, “it shines like her hair.”
