Relatively speaking

Relatively speaking

A Poem by Beccy

Image result for photo of a cat looking in a mirror
On the concept of perceptual relativity
I know little and care even less,
but this face is considerably handsome
and quite suits me; I'm bound to confess.

The puzzle of course, is who is it?
For 'tis very familiar to me,
and each time I pass by a particular spot
it's the first blessed thing that I see.

Now I'm just a cat, not some boffin
with enough intellectual skill,
to figure out why we so perfectly match,
when we stand, or sit down or keep still.

For my forte is purring and pouting
and preening myself day and night,
with occasional foray when dusk falls,
for romance, or perhaps a good fight.

So I shall just prowl on regardless,
which is what a cat does; more or less,
But this face is considerably handsome,
and quite suits me I'm bound to confess.

lovely. and it will not fail to please all cat lovers. your poetry flows so nicely Beccy. I know I always tell you that. you probably know I'm enamoured with rhyming and you do that sumptuously.

Strangely enough, cats do seem to pose a lot. Actually they seem to spend an age cleaning and grooming themselves. Solved it, she's a cat. Great poem.

wonderful.....and yes, I am a cat lover..I have one, a girl, no need to elaborate. She spent the morning looking good for me until a cricket got into the house and I wasn't able to calm her. I think it ran under the stove but i'm not sure. Anyways I refused to pull out. .

so today I think she hates me.

great poem.....dana

Never knew a cat that wasn't a selfish thing, but every once in a while I will get a dead mouse as a gift on my doorstep. So they can't be all that bad.
I confess that this poem is best read aloud; it's lyrically cheeky and fun. Probably a chore to write as being the meter was on point. It is a great poem Miss Beccy. CD

This poem has an attitude, a reflection of reality. People suffer without an identity, a true self so to speak. They define themselves ambiguously sometimes and without clarity. Learning to accept and not reject is good cofession to the soul. An excellent write, Beccy...:).................

a narcissistic cat...much like many people who see themselves differently as others see them...

the mirror is honest in its reflection, but we aren't always when we reflect on who we are.

excuse me now..i must go preen myself.

Relatively speaking, I love this, written with a kitty's attitude and a woman's emboldened imperfections. Nice reflective piece.
