Nine lines

Nine lines

A Poem by Beccy

We are of time, uncounted.
Formed by fragments of the whole
as we search for enlightenment
between each swiftly turning page.

We are thin boned, moths to a flame,
moving from purity to decay
like a spoiled child putting out a tongue;
Trapped between ecstasy and agony
until a brief drift of ember sets us free.

Gestalt Prose, I dig it. "Until a brief drift of ember sets us free" indeed.

I found delight in the title "Nine Lines", thinking of it as a play on the famous, repeatable mortalities of cats: nine lives. And I thought it quite clever.

Thanks for sharing, Beccy

A tale of life, penned so eloquently in nine lines

In a blink of the eye, it is over. We move from childhood to adulthood and then, poof, over. Are we free then? Interesting thought to ponder! I liked this one, Beccy. Lydi**

as always I'm in awe before your choice of words, Beccy.
exceptionally good poetry.
as we search for enlightenment
between each swiftly turning page is simply brilliant (among others)

I like the flow and tone of this one as much as the meaning! I often write lines which average out to be Iambic Triameter or Tetrameter so the rhythm of these lines feel quite familiar to me. I never strive for perfection, preferring, as you seem to, to let the flow of the words dictate the actual meter.

You have penned here, nine lines of lovely... great work!
