Three empty cans

Three empty cans

A Poem by Beccy
"

Sometimes, emptiness is harder to bear than loneliness.

"
There might have been lager in them.
But I can't see the labels,
the name on the tin,
because they're tumbled and twisted
and tossed in the bin.

Perhaps they were a kind of energy drink?
Full of sweet promise
for keeping you slim,
but now they're tumbled and twisted
and tossed in the bin.

There's nothing much left
for a can after that,
as empty of life and pathetically thin,
it stays tumbled and twisted
and tossed in the bin.

At least when we feel pain, we know we are alive and human.
As the Goo Goo Dolls song says "When everything feels like the movies, you bleed just to know your alive."

what you say may be true
no doubt about that
cuz lying would be such a sin
they were tumbled and twisted
but where oh where have you bin

Beccy, I enjoy visiting your poems, your language is simple and direct, and the work is always well crafted.
The metaphor here is certainly applicable to life.
Well done, as usual.
