From Goldilocks to planet Earth

From Goldilocks to planet Earth

A Poem by Beccy

Greetings;  so, you have found us at last,
we thought it might take a message in a bottle,
or perhaps a blast from the past.

We of course, have already called
on you many, many times.
We are that unseen presence,
those fireflies in the night,
the echoing sound of wind chimes;
that sense of not being truly alone
in the vastness of space.

You are almost ready.
You have your poets, your artists,
your music; and of course, your
children, who number among the
most beautiful creations in the universe.

But you also still have your priests
and your politicians, and those
who's only desire is to service
their own selfish ends.
Cast them and their sly rhetoric
to the four winds and we will
send you our co-ordinates,
(plus the secret of time travel.)

Meantime, keep wishing on a star,
we really are not all that very far.

what a great twist on the Goldilocks theme...and who is sleep in our bed? do we even know who and what we've become...i like how you put the priests with the politicians...both of whom we can no longer trust...they have their own agendas.

you reminded me of a beautiful oldie from the late 50's---Little Star by the Elegants.

"where are you little star?"
"twinkle twinkle little star, how i wonder where you are, wish i may wish i might have this wish i wish tonight"----
i would like to time travel, but then you know that from my poems about adolescence...

thank you for this trip...

A better world is only a heartbeat away when you keep the faith that humanity will reign one day.

You have found us as we have found in you a great poet and inspiration whether in romance, nature or politics. An excellent pen upon this...:)......

Arf, arf love it .. your satire is both kind and cutting with the beautiful side of humanity underscoring the sly side and visa versa in the contrast. I like the objective honesty and also the positive prospect of us not being entirely beyond redemption. Earning those co-ordinates is going to take some work though.

Too right! I'm waiting for the mothership to return! This is a really great way to phrase the social commentary.

Thanks Noel. I read him a lot of my poetry. At eight, I suspect it's more the sound of my voice and the cuddle he likes, not just the words.

Beccy.
