Generation gap

Generation gap

A Poem by Beccy

I saw them in the window,
they were beckoning to me,
high heeled, black and seductive,
And I thought - 'Oh Wow! Sexy!'

Then I paused just for a moment,
looked down to where my feet
were dressed in scuffed old trainers,
And thought - 'Oh Wow! how Neat!'

forty-seven words to the wise, how neat!

Perhaps some other time ?

A nice poetic analogy of how our circumstances change and evolve as we proceed along life's highway!

what's practical and affordable can be just fine...even if sometimes we long for the elusive.

nicely done metaphor, Beccy.

As the years roll on, everything changes. I can remember never leaving the house without hose and high heels....but that was long ago and far away. Now those scuffed old trainers are more my style...and they are so comfortable! Very cute. Kind of seeing life from both sides, right? :) Lydi**

This was great. The duality of the sexy outfit, verses the more practical comfortable one. It seems everyone is fighting something all the time, but it is always a comfort to know that you own that ability, to transform.

Very cool piece

We all eventually reach that point where we are old enough to know better (and perhaps too young to care.) Wonderfully wry little piece.

Love this. :)
Great little write Beccy.
I sure as hell don't spend nearly what I used to on shoes (although I still spend more than I should.)
Priorities change in life... :)
