Solitary confinement

Solitary confinement

A Poem by Beccy

There were no chinks in the
armour of his self delusion.
"Cut me and I do not bleed,"
he would very often boast.
"Ignore me and I will revel in
the cloak of my anonymity;
Reflecting only in passing
all the years I have spent
avoiding mirrors, whilst
reaching secretly for
the stars that now call
to me in siren song.'"
"Mmm, that's all very well,"
she said, feet tucked,
idly flicking through
the glossy pages of
Soulmates monthly.
"But who's going
to pay the
mortgage
whilst
you're
away..."

The appropriate, practical reality check that was required, as quite often proverbial, perpetual dreamers hit the ground with an almighty thump!

A fine poetic riposte !

Thanks Dean. But what a shame if no-one notices you bleeding.

Beccy.

I will bleed, but sometimes happily.

Wry and dry, with a wee bit of Stpehen Crane lurking about the edges. Very nice little vignette.

Women, always pragmatic. Always seeing the bottom line of the matter.
