Toxicity

Toxicity

A Poem by Rebecca Leigh

You tore me down,
And thoroughly broke me.
By your silence,
And the sharp words you spat,
Gas lights blind me,
And I am shriveled in a corner,
Shrouded in the darkest depths
Yet epiphany settles in and I look up,
I spark jutts from the black,
And I burst in flames, and rise from the ash stronger, wiser,
And ready.
You did break me but you are not the first.
But you will be the last

a very Plath-like write.
she had such strength in her poetry, that she often did not display in her real life...there was a formula she tried to fit herself into, with married life, kids , taking care of her husband's writing.
but she lashed out strongly enough toward the end.
And no man was going to break her again.
The speaker in this poem shows great strength.

Incredibly strong conviction in this and a great statement of power...such toxic bonds destroy unless one can see the worth to rise once more...inspiring Rebecca, both in strength and in raw honesty :)
