Silver SneakersA Poem by Rebecca Leigh
Little Susie loved her sneakers,
They were easy to wear, Bound by Velcro, With each step, Her soles light up, And sparkle, As she walked, The best part about her sneakers, Was that no one she knew, Not any of her friends or peers, Had sneerers like hers. So one day she wanted to impress her friend, She told a little lie. "My sneakers are magic!" Little Susie said. Her friend believed her, "What do they do?" She asked. "They take me where ever I want to go!" She smiled. "Yeah right!" Exclaimed her friend. "No really!" Susie assured. "I want to be in doors," she continued, "now close your eyes" Her friend did as she was told, But only after Susie said, "count to ten and you will see it happen!" So she obeyed, when she reached "ten", she opened her eyes. Susie was in the house, Eating popcorn on the couch, Her friend locked out. © 2013 Rebecca Leigh |
