Children, raised by war, taken by war

Children, raised by war, taken by war

A Poem by Salar Majak

Dazzling
is the sound of tears
falling to the bottom of a copper jug

Dazzling
are the crimson scars
staining rosy cheeks with blood

Dazzling
are children's memories
shaken by war's heavy breeze

Falling
out of their youthful minds
forgotten like old autumn's leaves

Denial
is a soothing lie
followed by the painful grief

Knowing
that a little soul has died
and yet the universe is still at ease
yet our universe is still going with ease

Author's Note

Salar Majak
i have exams, sorry i'm lazy with reading, and i had a bit of a writer's block so if i read your works gus i'd have been affected and impulsively would have written something similar to your ideas, to me it'd feel like steeling, but then some children died.
so this is dedicated to all of the children who are affected with wars all over the world.
Sal.

Please don't worry about returning the favor, as far as reading other writers on this website. What you contribute here in writing is a gift & there's nothing you need to do more than that. Your truth is so educational for the rest of us, we are the ones wishing we could do more. This poem is so amazing becuz it presents a point of view that most people never know or need to ponder. We've been seeing many bad pictures of dying Syrian children lately, so your words fill out the understanding behind the pictures. I've never felt so worthless in my life as I do now, with the world being in such a mess, but with Syria experiencing the worst of the worst. I'm very sorry for the way things are going there. Your situation helps me deal with my own bad life situation & I apologize for this selfish point of view (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is quite a wonderful poem. Too many children were brought up in the time of war, death and loss, but most of the world still doesn't seem to care. It's devastating that countries still believe that war is the answer to their problems and make us praise the soldiers and warriors that take part in it. Why would we praise people that only hurt and murder other people and only work as the governments weapons? It's sad how children who were born in those circumstances were forced to grow up so fast. None of them even had a childhood. Great job, Sal!

i know what you mean :( sadly, thanks a lot though for reading :)
It's people like you who highlight what's happening and keep the awareness going. There's little else 'ordinary' folk can do than speak out and in such a sadly magnificent way. Sal. In fact one becomes anything but ordinary when feeling so deeply. It's a terrible situation, an evil one, children should live in a loving, gentle and fun atmosphere, not hell. Thank you so much for, ' .. yet our universe is still going with ease' - your irony should be writ in giant letters, dear friend.

:) i shall write it in giant letters :) thanks Emma, you are so very supportive
Sal, in a crisis, you can only do five things.... stick your head in the sand and hope it will go away.... freeze...like a rabbit in car's headlights.... run away....fight.... or stand and observe... change... what you can....and if you can't... tell others and then help.
Your exams will lead to your future.... and Inshallah... and to the future of others. Good luck.

Another great write, Sal. I would say one of your best to date. This was heartbreaking, as you captured the emotions one lives with wonderfully. This poem really made me take a look at my own life, how I complain and take so much for granted. And yet there are people in other countries who would do anything to escape their lives and be in my situation. I can't even begin to imagine living in a war zone, the fear adults and children feel every day of their lives. Can you really say they "live" as it seems they only "exist". This situation is hard enough for adults to comprehend but innocent children should never be subject to that environment, and certainly not die in war zone.
