Are the dead really dead?

Are the dead really dead?

A Poem by Salar Majak

Lie in your bed tonight,
close your heavy eyes,
burdened by the day.

think about your life
before into your purple dreams,
your mind drifts away..

what if you're not alive?
what if that from the start,
you were lying in a grave..

within the empty ground,
mistaken for a dead,
lying wide awake..

would it freak you out,
to hear their sad sobs?
to hear them for you pray?

is it hard for you to lie,
buried in that hall,
and for your end to wait?

think about who died,
the ones you loved the most,
what if they feel the same?

what if it's all a lie,
that you only stay alone,
until forever ends?

slowly open your eyes,
try to cherish your life,
for you are not dead yet..

Salar Majak
i thought about this yesterday, and it freaked the hell out of me
i mean seriously what if death is only a continual observation of other people's life?
do i sound creepy?? :S

@de-mruf: Why use a quote from Wikipedia? It's the very definition of plagiarism for ANY site and to use it in a comment for a most beautiful poet this site has..... I have words for that, that I don't wish to use!!

This poem is fascinating on many levels, assumed and gorgeous!! To take a step back and wonder the creation that is the "birth of what we believe" and apply that to what we can hold physically, must boggle the mind on a consistent basis and rarely isi it ever written so beautifully with the respect and adoration of such care to words that you show in this very poem. Just beautiful.... I'm coming off of another one of your poems, so I'm with a most lofty mood to approach this one!! lol You brought up so many fascinating ares of dreams, wonders that Science tries to prove and disprove, and what if this regeneration that we feel in being connected all at once and to everyone is, in fact, energy passed from one to another through the course of our world's history on Earth?!!!! Beautiful poem. Wonderful length, word usage, strength in pushing such a topic so easily, and gorgeous poetess!! Great job.... I Love You, Aurora.... I miss your poems... even when they are sometimes read on a daily basis!! lol

:) thanks, and i HAVE to hear that song XD
Very poignant write. I had to re-read it a couple of times to let the weight of it completely anchor for as mortal our first response a lot of times is to deny this very idea of ending, of finality even though it is inevitable. I don't find it horrifying or creepy to think on this. If anything I like how in a way you embrace it... embrace the life and the fact that there is the possibility that not everything is as it seems... Accepting the unknown I suppose...

Good write
Very thought provoking poem...

thanks a lot!
yeah i kind of embrace it in a way XD, still wonder though.
The most horrifying aspect of this concept in some ways is that you'd be forced to watch your loved one's poor decision-making. It'd be like an eternal reality TV show.

Anyway, good job. I like the three line stanzas and compact statements- allows the reader room for thought.

thank you!
i think that everyone had their share of this thinking right? XD
Certainly not creepy! Since it's really impossible to know what lies afterwords, I find it's best to ponder all possibilities. I personally like the idea that our human forms are alot like ovens and were are just incubating our souls and spirits until we've learned enough to transcend into the next level of existance, whatever that might be.

Ink that makes you think! The best kind! =)

A very good poem. Good to understand there is a alternate place to be. With life. Always chance to find happiness. In death we are done. No weakness in the excellent poetry.

in death we are done... it's sad, isn't it
You don't sound creepy at all. You have thought about it in great depth and though it is scary, you've put it just right. very well expressed.
