For Once

For Once

A Poem by Becca

For once in your life,
You're failing and falling.
Failing to reach your goals,
Falling off your pedestal way up high.
For once, you know how it feels
To not have everything you want.
Downhill, you tumble fast.
Better hurry and catch yourself.
For once, you are falling.
For once, you have no control.
Your pedestal is no longer yours.
You risked it, demanded too much of it.
So now you're falling,
Now you're failing.
For once in your life,
You know how it feels.

"For once in your life,
You know how it feels." I love this sentence. There's a bitterness there, very mild and barely present, but also sort of a message. A way of saying, "Wake up, sweetheart, and welcome to life." I'm not very good at detecting grammar errors when it comes to poetry, but I didn't notice any, so good job.

I'm 23 and I write poems to keep me sane. Poems are my way of getting out how I feel. When I'm upset, I tend to write more. But there are times where I will get randomly inspired and write something c.. more..
