The Drive Out There

The Drive Out There

A Chapter by Becca

So here I am, sitting in a car,

On my way to visit father.

I stay quiet and look out the window,

While the lady in charge and behind the wheel

Keeps talking and talking, trying to make me do the same.

No mumble escapes me, no noise at all.

Then she pulls over, stops the car, turns toward me.

"We will not go any further unless you talk to me."

"Look lady, I'm not big on talking,

And I definitely don't want to go see him.

So If you would be so kind as to take me back,

We will be all right."

She shakes her head, only looking forward.

"You need to admit to yourself, you're scared.

How do you expect to get better if you don't do

What you need to do? We only want to help you get better."

I look out the window and watch the cars drive by.

"I know, I'm sorry. It's just... I'm scared out of my mind.

and what is father going to say when I tell him I'm pregnant?

I can't think of anything good coming out of this."

She reassures me everything will be okay,

That she'll be right beside me.

I hope she's right,

Guess I won't know until I get there...
