A Nightmare By Fear

A Nightmare By Fear

A Poem by Becca

Dreams come and go.
I never seem to remember them.
But this one sticks to me.

I was with my family, on a boat to Hawaii.
The cruise was all going to plan.
Then someone started going mad.
Said they would blow up the ship.

Everyone was screaming.
People running about in chaos to the life boats.
I was close behind them, trying to escape.
But the mad person grabbed me.

I was now hostage.
Then a terrible exploding sound came.
The engine blew up.
I thought I was a goner.

Maybe I would have been,
If I didn't wake up in a panic.
Sweat was rolling off my clothes.
Tears streaming down my face.

The only reason I woke up
Was because it felt like I was falling.
But in reality I was in the middle of my bed.
I didn't go back to sleep that night.

Maybe this is why I never choose to remember my dreams.
Fear of boats going at slow pace might have triggered the nightmare.
But maybe not.
Dreams come and go, but I'll always remember this one.

About
I'm 23 and I write poems to keep me sane. Poems are my way of getting out how I feel. When I'm upset, I tend to write more. But there are times where I will get randomly inspired and write something c.. more..
