Then He Came Along

Then He Came Along

A Chapter by Becca

It was July fourth,
Fireworks and parties were being prepared.
I used to love this day.
Used to spend time with my father,
Looking up to the sky and talk about mother.

She died giving birth.
I was all my father had.
Eighteen years went by.
Then trouble came knocking at our door.

His name was Trent.
A friend of my fathers,
Yet he was my age.
Father never told me how he knew him,
But I figured it all out.

Father was a pill popper,
Just like I am now.
Trent was his supplier,
And was mine too.

We fell for each other.
Did things with each other.
Sex was our highlight to the relationship.
We only knew each other for a few weeks.

I graduated high school, and he was there to celebrate.
Then father got into some money trouble.
Had to cut back on expenses.
Shortly after that, he was in a huge debt.

I was cashing a check when the hold-up started.
I wasn't afraid, wasn't the slightest shocked.
But then father looked at me.
He didn't know I was here.

He bolted then got locked up.
I'm supposed to visit him today.
I think I'm going to skip out instead.
Get drunk and high and pop some pills.

Lay out on the beach and watch the works fly.
I never used to think about what trouble Trent caused.
My downfall is still rolling and I'm putting him to blame.

About
I'm 23 and I write poems to keep me sane. Poems are my way of getting out how I feel. When I'm upset, I tend to write more. But there are times where I will get randomly inspired and write something c.. more..
